Sad day...relaxing day

Today was a sad day...my good island friend Natalie had to leave early! We started out together 6 semesters ago and we were so excited about finishing this adventure together in 9 1/2 weeks, but due to some medical issues she had to go back home now! We were so bummed to see her and Jack go home! We had a breakfast this morning to all get a chance to say good-bye. I'll miss her a ton, but look forward to seeing her again one day, hopefully in Michigan!

After the breakfast the kids and I headed to Dawn Beach, on the other side of the island, for a day of sun, fun and relaxation! One of our friends, who's from the States comes to St Maarten from time to time to check on a couple villas that he is the property manager of. So today he invited us over for a day at the pool. The kids and I had a great time hanging out at the pool, bbq'ing, and going to the beach. Its a great beach and there are very few privately owned villas on Dawn Beach, it is the home of the famous and very fancy hotel called the Westin. The villa we visited today would cost $12,000 a week to rent during high season! That is INSANE, but while there I could totally understand why people vacation on St Maarten! The view and the water was beautiful! It was a nice end to what started as a bummer of a day!

St Barts is the island in the background

Here is the view over to the Westin.

Another awesome view of the ocean.

Could it get any better?

The boys had an awesome time.

Relaxing on Dawn Beach looked like a great time! You got to live like a tourist for the day--woo hoo!
